Self-custodied escrow
Funds sit in an audited diamond-contract escrow — not on a custodian's balance sheet. Only the contract's rules can move them.
Blockchain escrow for international trade
Crypto Letter of Credit locks the buyer's funds in a smart-contract escrow and releases them against verified shipment milestones — without the week of bank paperwork, and without trusting a counterparty you have never met.
Escrowed funds move only when both the goods and the terms agree
The flow
Every step is a smart-contract state change. Nothing is hidden in a bank's back office.
The exporter drafts the letter of credit: amount, token, routes, Incoterms, deadlines.
The buyer deposits stablecoins into the escrow. The rest is locked — visible to both sides, touchable by no one.
Break the deal into milestones: goods loaded, documents presented, delivery confirmed.
The applicant signs the payout and stablecoins land in the beneficiary's wallet.
Why it is different
CLoC is not a promise to pay. It is money already locked in a contract that only your agreed terms can unlock.
Funds sit in an audited diamond-contract escrow — not on a custodian's balance sheet. Only the contract's rules can move them.
Propose, confirm, complete: granular milestones release tranches exactly when the trade advances.
Sign with a fingerprint or hardware key. The private key never exists in the browser — an XSS has nothing to steal.
Lost a device? A 2-of-N guardian set rotates your account key. Same address, same roles, same escrow — nothing to migrate.
Chat per letter of credit with end-to-end encryption. Compliance reads a thread only after an on-chain escalation — and the contract records it.
If the system is ever paused, both parties can jointly pull their escrowed funds back after a delay. The exit never depends on one operator.
Who it is for
Trade finance has always been a dance between parties who trust the paper, not each other. CLoC makes the paper executable.
Get paid against documents, not promises. See the money locked before you load a single container.
Pay only when milestones are met. Every release is signed by you — or not released at all.
Confirmation of shipment becomes a milestone signature. Your word moves real money, traceably.
Read any escalated deal-room, arbitrate disputes, enforce policy — with every action written on-chain.
Questions
No — CLoC is escrow logic, not an issuer. You choose the asset and the chain. The contract holds whatever you deposit and follows only its published rules.
Until funding, either party can revoke their signature and the deal evaporates. After funding, disputes go to compliance arbitration; a jointly-signed emergency hatch can always return funds while the system is paused.
No. You sign in with a passkey — the same fingerprint or security key you already use. There is no seed phrase to write down and no wallet extension to install.
Your guardians rotate the account key to a new passkey. The account address — and every letter of credit attached to it — stays exactly where it was.
Only the two parties. Documents and chat are end-to-end encrypted; even the server stores sealed envelopes. Compliance unlocks a thread only after an on-chain escalation that both the contract and the audit trail record.
